The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair kicks off today
The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair gets underway today at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), where jewellers from around the world are expected to replenish inventory for the year’s most important shopping season. The premier fair, featuring quality jewellery raw materials and fine finished jewellery, runs from 19-23 September at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from 21-25 September at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The fair gathers 3,454 exhibitors from 46 countries and regions. The expansion of the exhibition space to over 130,000 square metres and the addition of more than 200 new exhibitors make this year’s edition the biggest in the fair’s history.
France Pavilion debuts this year. In total, the fair features 21 group pavilions, housing companies from Antwerp, Brazil, China, Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA).
“The scale of the September Fair continues to reach new heights. We have 3,454 exhibitors – around 8 percent more than last year – from 46 countries and regions. They occupy a record 130,000 square metres of exhibition space. All booths in the fair’s two world-class venues, AWE and HKCEC, are occupied. These record-breaking figures have further strengthened the fair’s position as the world’s number jewellery event,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia Ltd.
Ms Lau noted: “This year, the fair features the world’s biggest Diamond Pavilion, the largest Thailand Pavilion ever organised, and the largest-ever Japan Pearl Pavilion. Such exciting features make it a truly global jewellery event that’s not to be missed.”
She added that amid worries about economic uncertainty in the West, China, with its huge population, growing middle classes and rising consumer spending, are becoming major driving forces of global jewellery demand. Exhibitors would like to leverage on the advantages of the September for exploring their business to these emerging markets.
