GREENERGY EXPO, THE FAIR THAT LOOKS AT THE FUTURE OF OUR PLANET
The event will attract the attention of operators of strongly growing sectors. In 2010, for example, in Europe, the consumption of pellets was more than 11 million tonnes (+ 7%), and by 2020 the forecast is for a global increase of 134% in geothermal capacity. The 2011 edition of Greenergy Expo, the fair dedicated to geothermal energy, biomass, pellets, biogas and cogeneration, mini-hydro electric plants, green energy and biofuels, will take place from 16 to 19 November 2011 at fieramilano, Rho. The fair will be part of EnerSolar+, the important event dedicated to renewable energies, which also includes photovoltaic and thermal solar energy, photovoltaic technologies (PV Tech) and inverters (Invex).
After the success of the 2010 edition - with the participation of more than 400 exhibitors on an exhibition area of over 20,000 square metres, and 29,300 operators from 74 countries - this year’s fair will represent the diverse aspects of the green economy, which are growing considerably all over the world.
According to a recent survey carried out by US research company Pike Research, for example, by 2020, and at worldwide level, the total capacity of geothermal energy will increase by 134%. If these forecasts are correct, it would mean doubling the present capacity of 10.7 GW, reaching up to 25 GW.
The pellet sector is also seeing positive scenarios. As per a report from Wood Resources International, for example, the use of pellets in Europe is growing and, in 2010, exceeded 11 million tonnes, an increase of 7% compared to the previous year. This increase has also caused growth in the export of pellets from North America to Continental Europe, reaching 1.6 million tonnes. According to analysts, this data confirms the aim of the European Union to reach the goal of 20% energy produced using renewable sources by 2020.
Interesting forecasts of development also for mini-hydro electric plants. According to Esha (European Small Hydropower Association), by 2020 in Europe small-sized hydro-electric plants (Shp) will produce 54.7 TWh. Even now, in Continental Europe, these plants produce more than 46 TWh per year, supplying electricity to 13 million families, with annual emissions savings of 29 million tonnes of CO2.
"Greenergy Expo has the slogan ?Producing energy while saving the planet’," says Marco Pinetti, president of Artenergy Publishing, the organizing company. "We are, in fact, convinced that we are facing a moment of fundamental choices all over the world with regards to the production of energy. In this context, renewable energies offer an important opportunity to combine economic growth with respect for the environment. And events like Greenergy Expo are important showcases to give further strength to this sector."
Other than taking place during EnerSolar+, Greenergy Expo will also be held at the same time as HTE-hi.tech.expo, the fair dedicated to innovative technologies, and will therefore be able to develop interesting synergies.
